Kade has had an outstanding first three seasons with the Gold Coast Suns playing 59 games already. In his first year he was rewarded for his efforts with a top 5 finish in the Rising Star award. In 2015 he came runner-up in the Suns Best and Fairest.
Very athletic and with great skills there is no doubt that Kade will play a major role in Gold Coast’s push up the AFL ladder.
Q: What Junior Clubs did you play for and what was the highlight of your junior career?
A: I played for the Prospect Sharks Footy club down in Tasmania. Playing in two premierships was definitely a highlight in the time I was there. I played with Tasmania in the Under 16 and Under 18 National Championships which was great and to win the title in the under 18′s and get the Harrison Medal (awarded to the best player in Division 2) was the highlight.
Q: Who was your AFL Idol as a kid and why?
A: I was a Hawthorn supporter when I was young so used to love watching them play. My AFL idol as a kid was Shane Crawford and I really liked the way he worked so hard on the field.
Q: What were you doing on the day you got drafted?
A: I was up on the Gold Coast with my family so I was at the draft. For most of the day I was just at the hotel sitting around nervously waiting. I got read out pretty early with pick 5 so after that I was more nervous about where my brother Jake would get drafted so once he got pick by Geelong I was rapt for him too.
Q: What has been the highlight of your AFL career so far?
A: Just getting down to the Suns and meeting all the guys and getting into the training has been great.
Q: What are some of your interests outside of football?
A: I grew up on a fairly big property down in Tasmania so a lot of outdoors stuff. I enjoy going surfing, fishing and follow the basketball. Apart from that I like to spend a lot of time with family and friends.
Q: If you weren’t playing football what would you be doing for a job?
A: I’d probably be doing a trade back in Tasmania and having a look at doing a university course in aquaculture.
