Brent Macaffer capped off a near perfect return to AFL football in Collingwood’s 16 point win over North Melbounre in round 1 of the 2013 season.

It was Macaffer’s first official AFL game since Round 19, 2011 with him battling knee injuries and he returned to pick up 12 possessions, but more importantly took a clever one-handed mark in the dying stages and kicked the goal to seal Collingwood’s 15.13 (103) to 13.9 (87) win.

Macaffer was just happy to get through the game unscathed and with the win in the end.

“I’m absolutely cooked to be honest. It was a bit scary with North coming home hard at the end there, but we were lucky enough to hold on,” Macaffer said.

“We had a lot of belief in the work we did over the pre-season and we just ran out the best we could, and stuck to our guns.

“I was pretty nervous running out there, but I’m just so happy to be back out with the boys and I couldn’t be happier with getting the win in my first game back.
