Paul Ahern

Paul was selected by GWS with pick 7 in the 2014 draft after an outstanding year with the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup and with Vic Metro in the Under 18 National Championships.

Paul started the 2014 season well with the Cannons but really stepped up for Vic Metro in the National Championships and show cased his ability to do some special things on the football field. His best game for the championships came against Western Australia when he had 22 touches and kicked 3 goals in a best on ground performance. He was rewarded for his performances with selection in the 2014 Under 18 All Australian side and in the TAC Cup team of the year.

Unfortunately in his first two years with the Giants Paul sustained two long term knee injuries. At the end of the 2016 season Paul requested a trade to the North Melbourne Football Club. At the Kangaroos Paul will be given plenty of time to rehabilitate his knee while being back in his home town.

Arguably the most talented player in the 2014 draft pool, when back fully-fit Paul will provide the Kangaroos side with a huge amount of X-factor and will be a great player to watch for many years to come.
