Jarrad was selected by the Western Bulldogs with Pick 5 in the 2007 National Draft after graduating from the AIS-AFL Academy in 2006.
The 193cm forward played 81 games and kicked 83 goals in his eight seasons at the Western Oval before moving to the Gold Coast Suns. Jarrad will be a great addition in the forward line for the Suns with his marking ability and versatility.
Q: Which Junior Clubs did you play for and what was the highlight of your junior career?
A: I played for Frankston Bombers, Dandenong Stingrays Under 16’s and Under 18’s and for Vic Metro in the Under 18’s. The highlight was playing in a Grand Final with Frankston, even though we lost it was a great experience.
Q: Who was your AFL Idol as a kid and why?
A: I barracked for Richmond and Matthew Richardson was my favourite player. I found him very entertaining to watch.
Q: What were you doing on the day you got drafted?
A: I went to the draft in at the Docklands which was a good experience. That night I had family and friends over so it was a pretty good day.
Q: What has been the highlight of your AFL career so far?
A: Playing in the Preliminary Final against the Saints at the MCG in front of a big crowd. Once again we lost the game but it was the biggest crowd I’ve ever played in front of and it’s definitely something I want to do again.
Q: What are some of your interests outside of football?
A: I’ve got a trotter (Harness racing) which I get involved with a fair bit. I love watching the NBA and the cricket in the summer. I like watching all sports really.
Q: If you weren’t playing football what would you be doing for a job?
A: Studying something at University. I’m studying small business management at University at the moment.
